Admit it, desktop computer is one of the few machines we love to hate and hate to love. Almost all of us have been in the situation where we are in the middle of an important project then suddenly our Hard Drive crashes. Puff! In an instant all our files are but a thing of the past---a really, really short-lived and painful past. To be honest, one can only hope that every problem and every glitch in the computer can be prevented.

Unfortunately, hoping that it will be avoided is different from actually being active in preventing it from happening. Remember, you are reading this not only to avert any computer meltdown but as well as your own mental breakdown. Mechanical failure may take us by surprise, however, we can at least halt any impending wreckage, right? How? Two words, computer maintenance.

The Culprit: Electrostatic Discharge (ESD)

One must realize that by performing internal maintenance, there is a chance of harming the core components of the machine. Generally, people will immediately start blowing off the dust from any given part of the computer.
