Simple transceiver kit?

I am trying to build a transmitter with multiple receivers so that I can change the color of the lights on the different receivers. This is just simple on/off type of transmission. What kind of FM/AM/Bluetooth/etc transceiver kits can I use? I am having trouble finding something easy to use from online electronics stores. I've tried building my own but run into problems because I am trying to use a high frequency.. I would rather just buy one and get on with my project. Thanks, appreciate your help.
I need the switching to be done by the transceiver not by an external switch. My plan is to have a code that tells which receiver's lights are to be changed and to which color. The garage door thing sounds good but can i make it so that it can do the switching on its own?
