G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra by carolrodriguez
The GI Joe team makes use of the latest next generation military and spy equipments for fighting with Destro, the corrupt arms dealer. G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra gives you one hour and 58 minutes of action, adventure and war. Released on 7th August 2009, the film has been rated for its strong sequences of mayhem and action violence throughout.
The film opens in 1641 France when Klam McCullen is accused for selling weapons to both French and Scots. McCullen is a weapons expert who has created a weapon based on nanotechnology which is able to destroy an entire city. The Pit is the command center of GI Joe in North Africa and the head of the team is General Hawk. After a fight, warheads are retrieved which Baron DeCobray intends to use for destroying the Eiffel Tower. Rex uses nano mites to heal the burned face of McCullen after which, he assumes the identity of Cobra Commander before being captured by the GI Joe team. While efforts are being made to remove nano-mites from Baroness’s body, Zartan infiltrates the White House and assumes the identity of the US President.
Major cast members of the film are Christopher Eccleston, Byung Hun Lee, Joseph Gordon Levitt, Adewale Akinnuoye Agbaje, Sienna Miller, Ray Park, Rachel Nichols, Said Taghmaoui, Marlon Wayans, Channing Tatum and Dennis Quaid. The film has been directed by Stephen Sommers, written by Stuart Beattie (screenplay) and David Elliot and produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura.
In 2003, Bonaventura decided to make a film about advanced military technology and Brian Goldner gave him the idea to base the film on GI Joe, the toy line. By 2005, rewriting of the film was being done by David Elliot and Paul Lovett and afterwards, Skip Woods rewrote it in 2007. In 2007, Stephen Sommers was hired by Paramount Pictured for directing the film and the film got released within schedule under Paramount Pictures.
G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra made an opening in North America at number one grossing more than $54 million in its opening weekend and $44 million in the rest parts of the world. The film has got mixed reviews from the critics who include Matthew Leyland from Total Film, Christopher Monfette of IGN and DaDan Jolin of Empire magazine. Rob Moore, the vice chairman of studio, announced that a sequel of the film will also be coming soon.
