How do I find my network security key?

I am trying to make my laptop in my house go wireless. I do not know the security key. I have entered in my IP address on the browser and I have successfully entered in the username and password to access the router settings. Where is the network security key? I thought it might have been the password itself but that doesn't seem to work.

I had a similar problem when I first got a wireless router. First, do you own your own wireless router, because unless you know your neighbor's network key, it isn't going to work. If so, then click the little computers in the taskbar at the bottom right of you computer screen. Then bring up the list of available networks. Click your network and then configure it to not ask you for the network key.
